Did you know that you have quick and easy access to find out if you have money owed to you?

The National Association of Unclaimed Property Administrators (NAUPA) is the foremost authority on unclaimed property and the affirmed leader of the coalition of states, administrators, and holders working together to reunite rightful owners with their property. Claims can be made into perpetuity in most cases – even by heirs. As of August 2016, there is $41.7 billion waiting to be returned.

Members of NAUPA represent all states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, several Canadian provinces, and Kenya.

Conduct a free multi-state search by going directly to MissingMoney, the NAUPA-sponsored search engine, or search state-by-state on individual unclaimed property programs by clicking on the appropriate jurisdiction on the map or drop box below. You should search every state in which you have lived.

Please note they do not send letters to individuals NAUPA is warning consumers to be on guard against fraudulent letters arriving via the U.S. Postal Service – your traditionally posted mail – and in consumers’ email inboxes alleging that they have unclaimed property. These are fake letters on NAUPA letterhead.

Test it out and see what you find. It may surprise you.
